We farewelled our Life Member, Bea Walsh, today. There was a good turnout of members and our thanks to Brian Cooper for giving his eulogy on behalf of the club and also the pall bearers.
Today also saw many of our women busy playing in the Clubs New Zealand North Island Women’s Outdoor Bowls Tournament being played in Wanganui. We look forward to hearing how they get on.
The Centre’s Fours Tournament was played over the weekend and today saw our two entered teams playing in the post-section. Both Neville and Shoota’s teams went down in the first round.
Interesting to look at the scores in all games played through the day and in most, the gap between winner and looser was often quite big: e.g. 21-6, 17-9, 21-5. Even the final, won by Owen Vincent against Rex Holmes, seems clear cut at 17-11. One needs to watch the games to see if really they were won quite easily. Just an interesting observation of the day’s play.
