The weather was just fine today, just as it should be for some very fine bowls played by our four Women Junior Singles players.
The Round Robin draw was made for our ladies and at 9.00am, play was under way.
After two rounds, Diana was the only player with two wins while, June and Jan had a win each.
What turned out to be the vital third round would be a further win for either Jan and Julie and a loss to Diana which would have been an interesting situation.
The game that set things going was between Diana and Julie and it was close. Scoring on only four ends up to the eleventh end by Diana and six by Julie saw the scoreboard reading 13-10.
By the 17th ends Diana had reached 20 while Julie was sitting on a score of 11.
And then things happened!! Julie scored a 2, 3 more singles and then a 3 to get the score sitting on 20-19
Real pressure now and with one bowl remaining to be played, Julie held the win holding two shots on the head.
One bowl still to be played. Diana delivered it, the weight looked OK but the line was perhaps a little tight but….her bowl hit the Jack on passing and sent it over to the side where a lone bowl sat.
We were watching closely but weren’t too sure who had the winning bowls but it proved to be the purple one…the win went to Diana.
Well done both players, a game we all enjoyed watching, and congratulations to Diana McGill, the clubs 2013 Women’s Junior Singles Champion
