Our Women Have Been Busy

It seems that often I seem to write and record about much of what males are doing so for me, it was interesting to see and hear about what our women club members have been doing recently.
At the end of last month, play in the two day Melva Ritson competition, the event was won by Waikanae with 4 wins and a draw. Coming in second place was our club with 4 wins. Very good result.
Over the weekend we had two teams playing in the BKC Women’s Open Fours and one team went through to the Post Section.

Dianne Short, Levin’s Skip

Dianne and her team received a bye in the first round and then went on to win their next against Kapiti, 15-13.
Their semifinal game was against the Central team skipped by Bea Gray and this saw the end of our girls, going down 12-16;

It was perhaps a wise decision by the two teams from Central to start a bit early this morning on our No2 green. Rain finally arrived but play was kept on. I called in to watch the game for a while but the rain finally set in; I didn’t see the end but have heard that the players kept bowling in spite of conditions, so that the event could be finally finished
Congratulations go to Bea Gray and her players, two received their first Centre Titles (congratulations cousin) and the other two added to their tally.
Well done to all.
