One day to go to find the Centre’s winner of this seasons Men’s Singles.
It all started on Saturday with 5+1 Club members playing at either Paraparaumu Beach or Raumati South Club. (6 members from our club, 1 of whom is also a full member at Central – the latter which he is representing in this competition.)
After the first day, Murray G, Ken S and Ken H missed out in reaching Post-Section play for Sunday with only John Adams and Neville Turnbull going through. (Gary Wylie also included.)
John was drawn to play in the first round against T Johnson, a player from the Manawatu Centre, and John went down 11-21. In the next round, Neville had a good win against L Roberts and then had to play J Swift from the Paraparaumu Beach Club but after a close game, was put out 18-21. Still a very good effort.
Gary, also in post-section play, had a bye but then went on to win against S Morris from Kapiti 21-11, then a win against R Goston from Raumati South 21-12 and on Monday, he will play in the semi-final against J Swift.
Another Centre player, R Boffa, had done well but lost his game against T Johnson 21-4 who tomorrow morning will play S McCluskey from Johnsonville.
