Today our two men’s Pennants teams went off to Waikanae Beach Bowling Club to play two games (morning and afternoon) and as it happened, these were against their two teams.
We had a strong morning game was against their B team while on the rink next to us, our B Team took a number of ends before getting into gear against their A Team. With their space on the scoreboard remaining empty while their opponents reached 12, things finally got under way and they went on to join us with the two morning rounds won.
The afternoon began in the strong hot sun and we again did well and won our second game. With our B team again playing next to us, we were able to see how close their scores remained and when the final end arrived, the score was level for both teams.
The nearest bowl was played early by Roy, our player, and when the last bowl came from the Waikanae Beach Skip, we watched with interest to see what happened. Down it came, very close but not enough to disturb the head and the Levin’s skip, Ken, was able to retain his bowl and be happy for the win.
So the day ended with us getting all games won, a pleasing result.
I have been away over the last few days so will, when time settles down, catch up with what happened over the last few days…and tomorrow as well as a Gala is to be played at our club.
