Three men’s teams from the club played in the Central Levin Men’s Gala today, Fred Adams’ team taking 3rd place on Green 2. Murray Griffin and my team came up with only 2 wins each but enjoyed the competition. Paul Gardner lead for me in the afternoon and played extremely well, setting up the head for us. In our last game we played a team that had a chance of winning the prize as they already had 3 wins but we clicked in this game and won 21 to 3.
Back at our club a Mini Gala was held as part of celebrating the Melbourne Cup. Responding to the suggestion that players might like to dress up for the occasion, Trevor Turnbull responded as seen here:

The race was keenly watched in the clubrooms following the games, and pleased faces showed who were the successful ones in the race sweepstake.
David Lowndes, who had done all the preparations for the Sweepstake, handed out the prizes to all the winners. A job well done, David.
Time then for the meal that had been prepared by Coral Mills and Margaret Griffin with help from Alice Spicer and Margaret Lowndes and what a great meal it was. Well done to all who helped.

Alice, Fred and Lodzia getting their meal.
While we were eating, we noticed some people coming in and looking at the green where Brian Paquin was having a few ends. It turned out that they were part of the Friendship Force group from Japan and they were being shown around the town by their hosts. Brian showed them how the bowl was delivered and they each took a turn.
Not sure how they will describe the occasion when they get back to their homes in Japan.

Not a bad style for her first time!
And tomorrow is not just another day, it’s our Life Member Bea’s 94th birthday, so special wishes to her from us all.
Happy Birthday Bea
It has been a very busy day for the club.
