Drizzle and then rain was forecast to take over this afternoon but didn’t eventuate until late this evening so we were able to complete the final gala for the year 2009 without getting wet.
Margaret had said that we would get through the day without any bother and she was right.
Bringing home the bacon (or was it ham) for christmas was the aim and there were enough entries to make it necessary to use rinks on both greens. It was good to see not only our own members but also teams and players from Foxton Beach, Waitarere and even an ex Foxton Beach player who was down from Gisborne. He made the most of it by being in one of the teams to take out a prize.
Two prizes were available for teams on both greens and the results were as follows:
Green 1
1st G Buick, G Thorby, M Mendoza – 4 wins, 24 ends and 45 p0ints.
2nd R Abraham, B Bloomfield, J Hansen – 3½ wins, 23 ends and 53 points
Green 2
1st F Adams, C Mills, O Feaunati – 4 wins, 22 ends and 57 points
2nd J Bentley, R Spicer, A Spicer – 4 wins, 21 ends and 40 points
The club was pleased to have Neil Adams, representing I C Mark, the sponsor, to present the prizes to the winners. Margaret Griffin, also gave a lucky prize to a player from each green, K Hayward and C Gardner being the recipients.
At the end of the day, Margaret thanked all who had in some way, helped to make the day very successful.
