Women’s Pennants Do Well

In spite of the blustery conditions at the Waikanae Beach Bowling Club during the day, our two women’s teams played well, recording 3 wins and a loss.

We knew they had done well when they returned to our club late in the afternoon with big smiles.

Playing against the Waikanae Club, Margaret Griffin (s), Anne Rolston, Margaret MacKay and Gwen McLauchlan won both their games and Dianne Short, Hazel Rose, Susan Boxall and Coral Mills had 1 win.

Well done ladies.

Back on our green, another round of Grants Whiskey ‘Corner to Corner’ competition was held. It seems that those participating in the event are becoming more skilled and more bowls are arriving closer to the corner. In the end it was Omeka who managed to get closest and he took his prize with his usual chuckle and smile.

Business House Bowls starts again this week on Thursday; our organiser, Brian Cooper, has been busy and once again, both greens will be filled for this most popular event, an occasion for non bowlers to enjoy our game.

Brian Paquin also has done a great job in getting all our spare bowls sorted and coded so that players can more easily get and later return the bowls they use during the evening.

We look forward to seeing those taking part, enjoying the challenge and fun of the game, well worth coming along and seeing what goes on during the coming weeks.
