Pennants Round Five

Our two women’s Teams played their two games at our club against Kapiti. Their A team had a good win (19-6 ) and then a draw while their B team had two losses. We await the placing now and I will post them on the website when they come to hand.

Our two men’s teams played at Kapiti against Waikanae Red. The weather was good and we had an interesting day’s play.

Our morning game was close up until we dropped a 6. By the 17th end we had won only three less ends than our opponents but our problem was that when we did score, it was mostly just one point and the final end saw the score at 9-22.

Our afternoon game went much better with a winning score of 24-14., the team playing consistently well.

Our other team had two losses, the morning game by 8-27 and the afternoon, 14-24.

After our return to Levin, we stayed to take part in the last round of Corner to Corner. It looked as though Reg Baugh was going to win, his final effort stopping very close to the corner. BUT, down came the last bowl from Paul Gardner .. with weight! Weight it might have had but as well, it had line, a line straight into Reg’s bowl, knocking it into the ditch, leaving Paul’s bowl to take its winning place. Sorry I didn’t have my camera, Paul, to get a photo of you with your prize.

Next week will see all the winners compete to find our club’s overall winner.
