Hi Martin, Shirley and others
The first two mentioned, I know read my blogs – Martin, a club member on holiday in England and Shirley, an ex member who has moved to Auckland, special greetings to you both…and to others who read my stuff.
Roll-up afternoon today, another fine but cold day, but still the keen bowlers were on the green doing their best to show their skills.
We had the usual couple of wrong biases (not from Colin this time), but over all, an enjoyable afternoon. My fun moment was when I claimed 4 points on an end but my opponent said, “No, it’s only 3. I’m going to measure.” This she did but it turned out that we actually had 5 points, not what she expected.
While we were enjoying our games, as usual, some jobs were being done around the club – seats being prepared for painting and later, a meeting of the new Match Committee was held, where, among other things, Murray Griffin was appointed Convenor and Margaret Griffin continues as Gala Convenor. Congratulations to them.
After the games we had our usual social time and it was interesting hearing from Brian, our hairdresser, stories about his time in Taihape when he first arrived in NZ from England a number of years ago. Quite an education it would seem. Except for a very slight accent, he seems to have settled well into the Kiwi way of life!
And tomorrow, 10 teams have registered for the next Mixed Triples Gala. The weather??? Who knows.
