It’s not often that you have three players with the same name in a game, but today, it happened. Here we are just before the start of our game:

Ian Averis, Ian Wenham, Ian Upston
Ian and I played together, one Ian skipping, the other leading against Ian – try working that out!!
We had a good game, though by the last half hour, it became very very cold. The good news was that two Ian’s won and the other lost!! Just a roll-up for fun.
Before the start of play, Neville Turnbull produced a device to show us how our bowls performed after being rolled down a chute, an activity that kept us all interested in our individual bowls’ performances. In nearly all cases, they ended up near each other which was a good sign. Just a pity that many bowlers aren’t able to produce the same results during a game. I heard a very good comment from Jack, “Can’t blame the bowls any more,” after seeing what happened to his bowls. True for all of us.

Neville, watched by Allan Collings, lets a bowl go down the chute.
