Eight to Four

Championship Triples were played today with entries for the Men and Women being the same – eight teams in each section.

There had been some rain in the early hours but we all got started at 9.00am; not quite true as one team’s player had decided that it was a 9.30am start.  ( I have made sure that Bill, who is playing with me on Tuesday, knows that the Pennants game will be starting at 9.30am!!)

So off we went, four games of men and four games of women, each playing16 ends. It was necessary for teams to win 2 out of three games to qualify for post section and  that will be played tomorrow, starting at 9.00am with the following draw for the qualifiers:

MEN:

Rink 1   F Adams v’s J Wnek

Rink 3  N Turnbull v’s I Wenham

Women:

(not sure of the rinks to be used for the Women)

L Wnek v’s  D Short

R Walker v’s M MacKay

Many notable things happened throughout the day no doubt, but a couple that I was able to observe were:

a) a drive from a player in the neighbouring rink that nearly took our head apart.  I think Barry should keep to drawing!

b) Wrong biases are always noted by our Club Captain, Fred, who sees that donations are added to the First Aid box. Vern must have broken the record for his contribution today.  A worthy cause, but not one that all player deliberately try to add to.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s game to see who will be our 2011 Club’s Triples Champions.

Our day in colour:

Joe Wnek ( his team qualified) and Ken Hayward

Margaret dances the twist. (Ra’s team qualified)
