When I first joined the Levin Bowling Club, a very active administrator was Jack Hammond who represented the club on the Manawatu Executive. (This was of course when the Levin clubs were part of the Manawatu Centre.)
The event that we played in today was devised by Jack, hence the name. It was always a popular well contested event though the RSA and Levin Women’s teams that used to combine have not been so active recently. It therefore was great to see them back together today, making the event once again, full of men and women, selected by their clubs to play in the Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.
Levin ran this event today and our special thanks go to Margaret Griffin who had spent many hours contacting clubs and organising the event.
So to todays games – both greens were used and by the end of the day, the score cards were analysed and the results came out that each club had had 4 wins and 2 draws. Points were then calculated and as a result the Levin Club came out 1st, RSA/Levin Womens’ 2nd and Central Levin 3rd.
Our thanks go to all for taking part in what I believe is a great way for all the local clubs to get together in friendly rivalry.
