Today saw the beginning of the summer championships – the Balloted 2x4x2 Pairs.
As expected, the cotula green was not quite ready so all games were played on the Dales carpet.
Three games of 10 ends were played, starting at 10.00am
In the Women’s competition, two teams won all three games and the decision of who the winner would be was based on the differential:
Winner – Alice Spicer and Grace Virtue: 3 wins, 22 ends and + 53 differential.
Runners Up – Ra Walker and Joan Hayward: 3 wins, 22 ends and +34 differential.
Going into the Men’s final round, only two teams had had 2 wins and as seems to often happen, they both lost their last match. This brought in the following result:
Winner: Rob Cotter and Rex Spicer – 2 wins, 17 ends and + 13 differential
Runners Up – Ken Hayward and Ian Upston – 2 wins, 15 ends and +10 differential
Entries are being called for next Saturday’s competition, the playing of the Men’s and Women’s Balloted Triples.
