The Women’s and Men’s Handicap Singles were won today by bowlers named Hayward – but they are not related.
Joan joined the club this year, coming from Christchurch whereas Ken is our club President.
Today’s games were a continuation of the Men’s and Women’s post section rounds and both finals were played on the Dales green. There was a strong wind blowing this morning but it had died down. by the afternoon.
Joan had to play Margaret MacKay in the morning and late in the game, Margaret slowly got up close to Joan but in the end the game went to Joan, 21-18.

Rob Cotter and Ken Hayward faced each other in the afternoon final and for most of the game, both players scores were quite close e.g. 11 all, 13 all, 15-16 until the crucial moment arrived at 19 all.
Ken got two of his bowls close enough to take out the win.

Both games were keenly watched by club members and the four players involved were congratulated for their skills in the game.
Yesterday two women’s fours from the club played in the Horowhenua Banner competition and came home with the trophy. Well done ladies.
