This Saturday will see three teams from our club playing in the KCBC Interclub final, held on the Paraparaumu Beach Bowling Club’s greens.
It is a great challenge for our teams (See our teams on our website) and we look forward to them doing their best and enjoying the day.
Our President, Ken Hayward, has been in touch with many of our members by email as follows, thanks Ken for your information and thoughts::
Dear club members
On Saturday (14 January) our three Interclub teams are all involved in the Top 4 Playoffs at Paraparaumu Beach Bowling Club.
This is a great effort for our club to be able to be able to compete for the right to represent the Kapiti Coast Centre as our Women’s Reserve team did last season.
The teams that have qualified are as follows:
Women’s Reserve 7’s:
1. Paraparaumu Bch 132 pts 2. Central 112 pts 3. Levin 95 pts 4. Waikanae Bch 94 pts
Men’s Super 7’s:
1. Paraparaumu Bch 155 pts 2. Levin 137 pts 3. Raumati Sth 132 pts 4. Waiakanae 93 pts
Men’s Reserve 7’s:
1. Paraparaumu Bch 174 pts 2. Central 171 pts 3. Levin 152 pts 4.Waikanae 148 pts.
The format for the playoffs is a round robin. Each team plays the other three teams in a staggered draw over the day. Previous points do not carry over and all teams start from 0. No bonus points are awarded on the day. Because the draw is staggered the final outcome is usually in doubt until the end of the day. Games start at 8.30 am so it will an early get away for all of our players.
Good bowling. I know all of our players will give of their very best on the day.
The Playoffs are always held at Paraparaumu Beach because it is the only club with the three greens that are needed to host all the teams on the day. This makes it harder for our members to be there as supporters but I hope that some of you will take the opportunity to come south for part of the day to lend some moral support to our teams. Apart from Central (who always manage to get a few carloads of supporters down there) we are the only team from the northern end of the Centre and lack the support that the Southerners get on the day. Our teams will be wearing our new uniform shirts for the first time so we should be easy to spot.
You could combine some bowls watching with shopping at Coastlands, a nice lunch out or a visit to a beach. Please think about it.
Ken Hayward
