With only two teams entered, it was necessary to find the Champion Men’s Junior Pairs teams by playing each other to get two wins.
Game one was clearly won by Bill Clelland and partner Vern Murphy, but the second game was much closer. The final end saw the teams scores level and an extra end was necessary. It became necessary for the other skip, Ken Smyth to have a run at the head and he hit the Jack, sending it out to the side. This game Ken two shots, and though Bill tried to get close, the points weren’t changed. Ian Upston, Ken’s lead, made sure the Ken didn’t play his last bowl.
Lunch followed and then back onto the green to get a Championship winner.
For much of the game, the points on the board were close but in the end, the winning team was Bill and Vern.
It had been an interesting day and congratulations to both teams for their close play.
