Easter Weekend

Lovely weather for bowling over Easter Weekend.

Some members played at Central in a two day Mixed Pairs competition with varying results I have On day one, Fred and Hildi had a good win in their first game against Ra and Dave only to later in the day, go down to a large opponents score with only 1 point on their side of the scoreboard. Just shows that you never really know what is going to happen during the day. I know that Ra and Dave went on and won the competition overall, well done.  Alice and Rex won their four games on the first day which put them into the top section but didn’t get the same results during day two – don’t know how well they did but certainly they did well on Saturday.

Playing at Waitarere Beach Club, Stafford’s team did well and only missed out on winning by a lesser number of ends won.

(Have since heard that the winning team was also from our club – congratulations Rob, Margaret McKay, Barnaby and Martin.)

At our club we had a roll-up on Saturday, not a great number turning up, and today, we had a mini gala.

It took a bit of sorting out the teams but once underway, we played three games of six ends each. Teams were drawn and I was lucky to have Vern and Margaret Lowndes with me and they played very well. It was just great watching Margaret taking such a wide green needed by her bowls, especially as the green was running really fast. We won our three games and had the most ends won to get the prize.

Tomorrow our two Pennants teams were to play Raumati South but I understand that they will not be playing for some reason.  Our club will be used for women’s pennants so it will be worth dropping in to see how our teams perform.

I will not be putting this version of the Blog onto our club website because Shoota is working on changing the Server; should be up and running soon he told me. People can still read what is on it now but nothing new will be recorded for the time being.
