So ofter does one hear from fellow bowlers how part of their  subscriptions go to Bowls New Zealand and how this is used mainly on our top bowlers.

This morning I was invited to join  some of our committee who were having a meeting with Paul Cavanagh who is the Community Development Officer for Region 3 & 4.

The meeting this morning

This was not his first meeting with our club officers but was one of many follow ups to see how our the club is going and looking at further ideas that could, if so desired, be followed up.

Paul Cavanagh

To me, it was a most interesting session and a great reminder of what the Nation body does for bowl. I noted on our new sign near the gate, some signs which are just some of the things that Bowls New Zealand has introduced to give people the chance of seeing what our sport is really about. These on show are: Have a Go, Squad 6, Mates in Bowls and Christmas Bowls.

Take a note of the additions at the bottom of the sign.

It is easy and interesting to see what Bowls New Zealand is about by looking at their website – http://www.bowlsnz.co.nz/  Well worth looking at….regularly.
I thought I had a good idea what the National Body was about but it opened my eyes to see so many other things that they do, all with the aim of helping our sport develop.  A pity that other members weren’t there, it was an interesting two hours and I’m sure they also would have found it really informative.
