A sunny but windy day saw a good turnout to the roll-up at the club this afternoon.
As well, three teams played at Central Levin in their monthly men’s gala, something we have supported for many years. We each had some success e.g.. my team had 1 win out of the four games, Fred had 2 and Murray’s did best of all with three wins. He told me that in their first game, they went into the last end with a lead of 4 but managed to drop a 5 to lose the game. Still, they did the best of all so ‘well done Murray, John and Joe.
Tomorrow sees out 4 teams playing in Rotary at Shannon and Foxton Beach. There has been quite a bit of discussion at our club as to the need or otherwise of adding women to our teams. In the last couple of years, small clubs have found it necessary to make up their teams with women because of their lack of men, but in our case, the question asked is whether it is necessary for us to do likewise when we have men keen and available to take part as in the past. It will be interesting to see what happens after the matter is looked at by those concerned with the club’s policy.
