Men’s Handicap Singles failures to deliver the general consensus at the AGM’s

In my option the Match Committee handicap ranking failures to deliver the general consensus at the AGM’s, that all players have an equal opportunity to win the handicap singles. Actually I would like to see the handicaps go even further and make it really difficult for our better single players making the final.

I started the discussion in 2009 (see the blog archive September 2009) http://levin.bowls.org.nz/blog/?m=200909

My reason is not self interest but purely for the grass root members that normally have little chance to win championship events at our club. I was so disappointed with the handicaps for this years men that I lodged an official complaint, however for reasons unknown to me the special meeting up held the Match Committee’s devised handicaps.

The match Committee’s handicaps resulted in two very good single players making the final. Ken was last years Interclub’s reserve 7 singles player and Omeka is a top draw and singles player. In my option this years men’s handicap singles again failed to give the grass root players any chance of winning this event.
