They Didn’t Turn Up

This afternoon we were to have a Horowhenua College class so that we could introduce Bowls to them.   We set out the required gear and then waited….but no show up! On checking, we found the staff had a special meeting this afternoon and pupils had been dismissed at lunch time. Pity was, they forgot to let us know.
As it turned out, not too much of a tragedy as it meant we were at the club and able to help Paul Gardner put the shade cloth at the north end of the cotula green back up . (It had been taken down over the winter and it was now time to put it back.
Quite a job really, it being a long heavy cloth which had to be attached to the wire frame. Skill and strong arms were necessary as can be seen in the photos.

Hooks were screwed on at every second hole initially and once the cloth had been fully rolled out, the left out holes were attached to the wires, front and back. All quite a fiddley job.

Thanks boys for you efforts. Let’s hope we have plenty of sunny days when bowling on that green – we will appreciate the shade at that end.
