Business House Starts

Business House – Day 1
Didn’t We Do Well (click photo)

Thursday arrived, plenty of sun, wind for the afternoon roll-up and late in the day, players arriving for the start of this year’s Business House.

There seemed to be such a crowd this year for the start of play, cars outside and players inside.
When one thinks about it, which I hope they do, so many people are involved in getting the activity organised.
Early in December, previous teams were contacted to see if they would be playing again and as well, forms would have been sent out to enrol past and new teams.

It appears that we have 31 teams entered, all with non-bowlers taking part and yesterday was the starting date of the event. For some, no problems, they had played before but for new players, many club members came along and gave them a hand, showing new players the basics of the game.
As well, there were those helping inside the building, in the kitchen, the bar, selling raffle tickets, making club bowls available … and so on, helping with basic things that are needed to be done …  and were.
On and around the two greens, lots of laughs and smiles, all ages showing how much fun they were having. Some people seem to find it basically easy to deliver a bowl, a few, for one reason or another, have difficulty delivering their bowl whether because of the speed, direction or physical problems, but they still work on what needs to be done…. and with a smile.
The club has a lot to thank members, for the way they help. As I was leaving at the end of the event, I couldn’t help but notice that there was still a member in the Men’s room, sorting, collecting and putting away all the club’s bowl that had been used by the players. Francis had already sorted out the bowls during the previous week, and there he was, reorganising and putting them all away ready for next week. Also what I thought was great was a non club member who saw that help would be useful and he was on the floor with Francis, sorting as well.
Really pleasing to have seen in the weeks before, on the first day and at the close of the evening, players and members prepared to help.
Shows what a great club we have. Thanks all.
