I wasn’t available for today’s final day of Pennants played at Central Levin but include below a note re results from Neville to keep all updated:
”Just to let you know that we only needed one win today to sucure the third division pennant, second placed Kapiti needed to win all their four games and us to lose all ours if they were to win the pennant.
As it happened, both our teams skippered by Ken Hayward and myself had very comfortable wins over RSA’s Micky Wilton and Hori Broughton’s teams respectively which meant it was all over, Levin Bowls were the clear winners and no more games were played. ( as it turned out, not long after lunch there was continual rain and the women who were playing their pennant games on the other Central green was abandoned for the day and the end of the tournament )
I would like to mention that Roy Dickson playing two for Ken and Trevor Turnbull who replaced Ian Wenham at three for me, played very good bowls in the two games.
It is now onto Paraparaumu for our third division teams on Wednesday 24th April for the play-off v’s the winning third division Wellington club.
Our club’s second division teams finished second, another very good effort, since I have been in the club I think it is the first time we have won a pennant ?
Neville”
Interesting to hear that the Centre have a play-off against the Wellington 3rd Division coming up. Haven’t heard of that before. Perhaps if we had won more often.
Will note the final results of Women Pennants once they are available.
