Today bowlers from the Hastings Heretaunga Bowling Club came to play us a two day visit.
Hazel, our President, welcomed all and following lunch, teams were introduced to three games of 2 bowl triples, teams being sorted out by our special cards. Each team would have at least one player from either club. Sounds a bit complicated but it is a way that players can meet each other and as well still try to win overall for their club.
Our cotula green was running really well, impressing all on the way bowls were running so well.
At the end of each game, skips got their team’s win or loss recorded with their points as well, beside the name of each of the players. The aim was to find at the end of play who was the Skip, Two and Lead who had the most wins and points.
The weather slowly changed and it grew quite gloomy by the end of play but once inside, time to relax, enjoy the afternoon tea and have a chat about a bit of this and that.
Neville finally sorted out the results and congratulated the winners :
Lead – Trish Cross (H), 3 wins and 28 point. Close was Jan Dawson (L) who also had 3 wins but only 23 points.
Twos – Keith West (L) had three wins with a total of 23 points.
Skip – Ian Wenham (L) with 3 wins and 33 points ( Certainly I had some very good players.)
So to the final result – This was worked out pretty well by Neville and gave Levin the overall win.
Tomorrow, (hoping it is fine) the big test between the clubs will be played; each will have a men’s and Women’s Fours, Triples and Pairs team to play and find the trophy winner.
Special thanks to all who have helped our club in one way or another in preparing for these two days of bowls, e.g. Margaret doing the Draw, Ken the Scoring, Audrey the afternoon tea, Coral the Raffle and special thanks to Neville for his overall planning and organizing. Just lets hope he has the sun available for tomorrow.
