Things That Catch Your Eye.

Today was the last of the 2x4x2 Galas for the winter period and was again enjoyed by all.

Margaret had again ensured that the green would be full and also managed to see that the weather office supplied us with another fine day. (only one day during winter had to be cancelled.)
Four games were played, two before and two after lunch.

What caught my eye today? Certainly the planning and presentation of the gala each time by club members who like to help.  Boards and Jacks out, a raffle ticket being sold and then at lunch time, drawn. Barbara, again in action, today making the kitchen available,  the match committee helpers taking the entry fees and doing the draw etc.  Two birthdays celebrated by club members today, one playing in the gala, the other observing the games.

magnoliaWhat did catch my eye was my seeing a lady who was passing the club, pause on the footpath and then turn, to take a look as I presumed, at the clubrooms and perhaps noting the game we were playing.
But not so.  I went over to the fence and had offered her my help should she want to know what we were doing or if there was someone on the green she was looking for.  Quite a surprise really when she said that all she was looking at was the Magnolia just inside the club entrance. She was most impressed apparently by the size of the flowers that were now out.
Am not sure that she will become a member, but I was able to have a quick chat with her and who knows, perhaps she might join up one day seeing we can get things to bloom so well.

Though it didn’t catch my eye, I did hear on tonight’s weather forecast the name of Levin being announced re our hot afternoon temperature.   A really good day.
