Today saw the final day of this winter’s Triples Gala.
The weather may not have been the best, but it was a typical example of how bowlers arrived ready for the 11.00am start. All well clad (though one player had decided that wearing shorts would be OK) and the first of the three games got started.
Mostly our club players were taking part but it was great that teams from other clubs were present as they had been throughout the winter months. Certainly the weather was a mixture but only one Wednesday’s play had to be cancelled.
Today we were all greeted with the view of the Magnolia, now in full flower, close by the noticeboard, where information about the club and dates of activities is displayed.
The blossoms are quite large this year.
It was noticeable that the green had been vacuumed before play, thanks Ken; over recent days traces of yellow pollen has been seen on our bowls. I presume that a lot of it has been blown in from the Waitarere Beach pine plantation. It wasn’t noticeable today.
At the end of play, Margaret Griffin thanked all who had assisted the club with this tournament over the weeks, and it was pleasing that Murray, Club Captain, thanked her for all the work she has done.
Afternoon tea was very well prepared and organised by Barbara.
