A great day of bowls at the club today saw the men and women’s post-section Pairs play through to find the winners.
The 9.00 o’clock start saw Christine Gardner play Audrey Sciascia and Bronwyn McMahon , the latter team winning 17-13.
The semifinal saw Alice Spicer and her partner Liz Galloway have a good win agains Dianne Short, 27-7 and Audrey had another win, this time against Hazel Rose, 19-14.
This led to the final and for much of the match the game was close, but the final end wasn’t needed to be played, the win going to Audrey Sciascia and her partner, Bronwyn. Congratulations.

The men continued with their competition on the Dales Green. The first two games got started and saw Jim Adams and his partner Grahame Law win against Neville and Keith 17-12 and on rink 3, Ken Hayward had big win against Bill Clelland and his partner, 23-4
The next round saw Joe Wnek go down to Rob Cotter and Ken Hayward lost his match to Jimmy Adams.
So the men’s finalists got started on rink 2 aiming to be the winning team on reaching the end 18th end.
A 5 on the first end followed by two ends of three, quickly saw Rob and Jim Bagnall in the lead with the score at 11-0. In seemed that in no time at all they had played eight ends and were leading their opponents, Jimmy Adams and Graeme Law 16-4.
What a change then occurred. Jimmy and Grahame’s side of the scoreboard progressed as follows: 1,1,1,4,-,1,2,1,1, and when the eighteenth end was ready to play, the score was, Rob Cotter 17, Jimmy Adams 16.
An end of real pressure go started and Grahame soon held the shot and it looked as though an extra end might have to be played but…the jack was moved, Rob drew close, and now held the winning shot. Jimmy’s only chance was to take out his opponent’s shot bowl …. but that didn’t happen and the game was over – Rob Cotter and Jim Bagnall, 18 winners; Runners up – Jimmy Adams and Grahame Law 16.
Grahame, Rob, Jim and Jimmy
Well done both teams, a match full of entertainment to all who watched the match.
