close .awayThe playing of the Final of the Mixed Pairs Competition on the cotula green got play on the cotula green started. Great conditions for the match between Murray Griffin and Joan Hayward and Ken Hayward and Bronwyn McMahon.
The view towards the East showed the Norfolk Pine just down the street, further back, the Arapaepae Ridge and in the background, the Tararua Range with the clear blue sky as the backdrop.
It was perhaps a pity that not a lot of members were there to watch a very good game; very close heads but in the end, Ken and Bronwyn took the title.

Champion Mixed Pairs 2013-2014

The afternoon saw the arrival of players keen to enjoy the green. It certainly is in top condition.

Our Men’s Fours playing in the Champion of Champion competition on the Waikanae green have done very well.  Shoota Ballinger (s), Brian Coe, Martin Howse and Joe Wnek played the Otaki Four in the first game and won 17-12.
Their second match was against Central Levin and again Shoota and his team performed well, winning their game with the same score.   Tomorrow their semi-final game is to be played against  Raumati.

Our ladies also played at Waikanae in the morning but lost their match against the Waikanae Beach team 8-18. No doubt they would have been disappointed but taking part in the event representing our club on the day, would have seen you all doing your best.
