It is with sadness that I have to let you know of the passing on Saturday of Dick Denton, a past member of our club.
His father before him had been voted in as President back in 1936 and would have let his son know that he, at some time, should play the game too.
This finally happened in 1989 when Dick joined and he soon gave his time both on and off the green.
It didn’t take long for him to be active in many aspect of the club not only in the summer on the cotula green, but he played the indoor game as well during the winter months.
In 1994 he became a committee member and from 1996-1999, was the Club Captain, both positions of responsibility.
In later years because of health, the outdoor game proved to be more difficult and Dick became a Limited Member and finally, the committee made him an Honorary Member in 2010.
In recent times I have been able to call in and see Dick and he has always kept his interest in the Club’s activities.
It is now time to say farewell to Dick, He will certainly be remembered as a good kind man who showed his commitment to the club.
