Last weekend saw the Invitational Classic Triples played at the club, a new tournament that was sponsored by Levin Cobb & Co.
It was an interesting event where sixteen pairs that came from a range of clubs, took part. In addition, each pair also had a member from our cub to join them.
We saw some excellent bowls played by the teams over both days and were never quite sure which team would take out the top prize.
The tournament concluded with John Adams’ local team playing Rex Homes.
The final match was tense throughout. John, with Omeka Feaunati and Peter Brown, won the first set but the 2ndsaw Rex Holmes, Steve Glavas and Diana McGill, take the win. This meant that one more end had to be played to find the winner. Came the final bowl, delivered by Rex, so close but…it left John and his team taking out the top prize.
At the conclusion of the event, Neville Turnbull, who had been responsible for the setting up and organizing of the two days, presented the prizes to all the section winners and the top award to John, Omeka and Peter.
It was great seeing not only our club bowlers on the green but also, all those who assisted in one way or another, to make the event such a success. Well done all.
