A Bowls Tournament with a Difference

Last Sunday 19 June the Levin Bowling Club held a Pairs & Singles tournament with a difference as part of their winter programme on the carpet green. Sixteen teams competed in a two-bowl, two-end games tournament with each team playing the other 15 teams over a three hour period. (It was described as speed dating for bowlers.) At the completion of this competition each player took part in a two-bowl, two-end singles game on a knockout basis with one eventual winner. Despite the occasional shower all games were completed over the day.

Levin members took out all four prizes in the pairs. The winners of the pairs competition were Daryl Johnson & Robert Falconer with 11 wins and one draw from their 15 games. Second were Murray Griffin and Omeka Feaunati after a playoff game against Ken Hayward  and Arne Jansson, and fourth  were John Adams and Julie Stichbury.

The knockout singles winner was Central Levin player Paul Selby who beat Daryl Johnson in the final.
