Following a lot of discussion the Executive have made the following decisions about the Direction of Play on the Dales carpet green. These decisions were announced at the AGM and are:
That the predominant direction of play will continue to be from East to West.
That playing North to South can take place when the low-angled sun becomes an issue under these conditions:
- For the last game of the day during Wednesday winter galas when 3 games are played.
- From lunchtime on when 4 games are played during Sunday winter galas.
- For the last game of the day during Winter championships
- For roll ups on sunny Winter days only the Direction of play can be changed to North to South at the afternoon tea break by the Match Committee duty person.
Further it is suggested that the Match Committee consider amending the start times and/or number of ends at roll ups to try to avoid the issue of the low-angled sun.
These decisions have been made to ensure that our Dales green remains the best artificial playing surface in the Bowls Kapiti Coast Centre.
Please observe these conditions.
