At the end of the day, 10 players had qualified for post Section play tomorrow.
The draw sees Grant Pratt playing Rex Spicer, and Jim Bentley playing Fred Adams in the first round, starting at 8.30am.
Starting later after having the bye are Ian Wenham playing Omeka Feaunati, Rob Cotter playing Neville Turnbull and Noel McCutcheon playing Paul Skilton.
Because of the number of players entered, 16 players were drawn for the mornings 3 rounds commencing at 8.30am and the other 6 started their games around midday.
Unlucky not to qualify was Steve Felgitscher who won one game but lost the other two by one point in each case. Another Junior, Grant Pratt, needed to win his 3rd game to qualify and had a real battle against Allan Shanks. With the score level on 20 all, Grant drew the shot and Allan’s drive just missed, leaving Grant the winner.
Neville Turnbull score cards show that he was in fine form with two wins; 21 – 2 and 21-8. Fred Adams also started strongly with a 21-1 win in the first round, but a loss in the 2nd round meant he had to win his last game against Murray Griffin and this he did convincingly.
Another who went down in the first round was Rob Cotter, losing his game 21-11 to Jack Willis but then went on with two good wins, 22-4 and 21 – 5 to qualify.
We look forward to another summer’s day tomorrow with good games through to the final. Should be worth coming along to watch!
