McGill Team Wins Balloted Triples

On Sunday the 17th September the Women’s Balloted Triples finally got underway in breezy conditions, we were straight into knock out play as the weather forced the postponement of the first round of qualifying the week before.

The first games saw Diana’s team (Diana McGill, Julie Stichbury and  Valda Anderson) comfortably win against Bronwyn’s team (Bronwyn McMahon, Lana Mahupuku and Jan Dawson).  Another big win was Heather Stempa, Susan Boxall and Lynn Cherry who totally dominant in their match against Liz Galloway, Bella Law and Janet Olliver.  The other match of the quarter finals was a lot closer with Audrey Sciascia, Mary Judd and Linda Moe winning 10 – 6 against Alice Spicer, Donna Gripp and Kaye Lahman.

The semi final’s saw close games, Diana McGill playing Diane Short, Ralda Adams and Jennie Pita who had the bye and Heather Stempa playing Audrey Sciascia, the results from this round had Diana’s team with the win and Heather’s defeating Audrey’s

The final produced bowls of a very good standard with many closely contested heads. However, Diana’s team was able to score more consistently  winning eight of the 12 ends played to come out the winners by 14 shots to 9. Congratulations to Diana and Julie on another club title, and to Valda for her first title at Levin Bowls.

Special thanks go to Ken Hayward for running the event, it is very much appreciated.
