The Men’s Balloted 2 x 4 x 2 Pairs were completed on the Dales green today under cloudy skies with always a threat of light rain. There were eight qualifiers and the quarter final results were as follows:

Ken Hayward / Jim Pailthorpe 10 Rob Cotter / Doug Harris 6
Jimmy Adams / Dave Grigg 12 John Adams / Graeme Mathie 9
Grahame Law / Barnaby Hamid 13 Bill clelland / Les Judd 8
In the semi finals Jimmy Adams had a narrow win over Grahame Law 15 – 12 and Ken Hayward had a more comfortable 15 – 4 win over Paul Gardner.
The final was a close game all the way with Hayward going into the last end with a four shot cushion. On the last end however Adams and Grigg drew four shots close to the jack on a full length end and looked to be forcing an extra end but Hayward was able to draw a toucher with his second to last bowl. In fact three bowls were all touching the jack and the end was declared dead leaving Hayward and Pailthorpe the winners.
