Champion of Champion Men’s Singles winner 2010 – Jim Bentley.
Congratulations Jim on a great achievement, winning the final against Rex Holmes of Paraparaumu Beach Bowling Club. After a bye in the first round, Jim won his game against Jack Frost (Manakau) 21-10 and then beat Reg Goston (Ruamati South) 21-12.
In the Women’s Section, Margaret Mackay played very well, winning her first game against the Waikanae Beach player, 21-14 but lost her next game in a very close encounter against Dot Collis, 20-21. Dot went on to win the women’s final against Audrey Stevenson from Paraparaumu Beach.
It has been a most interesting day watching some excellent play from all the club’s Singles Champions.
Tomorrow, the Junior Champions will be playing at our club, a chance for all to see these players in action. Best wishes to Brian Paquin who will be trying to emulate today’s result from Jim Bentley.
We had two teams playing at Central Levin today in the Grassroots Competition and good to see that one team, Margaret Griffin(s), Susan Boxall and Noel Larsen have made it into the top 8 to play tomorrow. Our other team, Murray Griffin (s) and Joe and Lodzia Wnek missed out but will be playing in the Consolation Gala, also at Central Levin.
