It was a long but successful day for the club yesterday with its teams playing in the Interclub Final at Paraparaumu Beach Bowling Club.
It meant an early start for us having to get there and be ready for trial ends and a start of games at 8.30am but all was well, the sun was shining and the greens were in top order.
Paraparaumu has three greens so it was organised that the Fours would be played on Green 1, the Singles on Green 2 and the Pairs on Green 3
At the end of the day’s play, the results were worked on and they were able to announce the top four places in each Section as follows:
Men’s Super 7’s
1st Paraparaumu Beach (63 points), 2nd Levin (36+26), 3rd Central Levin (36+18) 4th Raumati South (27)
Men’s Reserve 7’s
1st Central Levin (54), 2nd Paraparaumu Beach (45) 3rd Otaki (36), 4th Levin (27)
Women’s Super 7’s
1st Paraparaumu Beach (72), 2nd Central Levin (45), 3rd Kapiti (36), 4th Waikanae (9)
Women’s Reserve 7’s
1st Levin (54+24), 2nd Paraparaumu Beach (54+23), 3rd Waikanae Beach (36), Central Levin (27)
(Good to see that all our teams got into the top four placings)
As can be seen, our Women’s Reserve 7’s Team came in FIRST, a great effort, and will be heading off to the playoffs to be held at Wanganui on Saturday March 5th.
The team (including Liz Galloway) had played well throughout all the Interclub rounds, and the final day’s 3 games results were:
Singles – Ra Walker (2 wins),
Pairs – Ann Malone (s) and Alice Spicer (3 wins)
Fours – Dianne Short (s), Hazel Rose, Susan Boxall, Margaret MacKay (1 win)
Men’s Super 7’s
Singles – Dave Walker (3 wins),
Pairs – Ken Hayward(s) and Shoota Ballinger (1 win),
Fours Neville Turnbull (s), Keith West, Trevor Tuatara, Omeka Feaunati (0 wins)
Men’s Reserve 7’s
Singles – Barry Cross (1 win)
Pairs – Paul Gardner (s), S Ball (1 win)
Fours – Ian Wenham (s), Jack Willis, Brian Cooper, Murray Griffin (1 win)
Theses results of course, don’t tell the story of how the games went, wins are wins, but certainly some of the losses were so close to being wins also. I saw the last end of the Men’s Super 7’s Fours game and the Reserve 7’s Pairs game and in both cases they were so close to being wins.
The thing to remember is that all players did their best and on the day, played very well. The club is really pleased with their performances on the day.
But a special WELL DONE, goes to the Ladies. We look forward to your next challenge in Wanganui where we are sure you will do well.
