A Plug Is Important

Not very many at the club today, it being Easter Saturday. I think three Mixed Pairs were playing at Central in a two day gala, but some of us at least turned up this afternoon for a roll-up. We didn’t use Rink 4 because some Plugs had been inserted at one end and to give them a good chance to grow, we kept clear of that rink.

During one of the games, I heard one player putting a plug in for the Highlanders who were playing tonight and they duly won their match against the Crusaders.

But it was at afternoon tea that a Plug became really important. We were having our usual chat when Brian Cooper noted what he thought was smoke in the kitchen. He quickly went over and saw that it wasn’t smoke at all, simply steam coming from a FULL sink of hot water. I’ve no doubt you have guessed what had happened, someone had left the PLUG in and hadn’t turned off the hot tap completely.

Brian went and got two mop’s and with Hildi’s help, started mopping all the surplus water that had found its way to the kitchen floor. Joe (with a red face) used a long-handled kitchen fork to poke around in the basin to remove the PLUG, and eventually, things were back to normal.

Perhaps not quite.  I’m sure our Kitchen Convenor, Fred, will be told that we had decided to give the floor a clean as we felt it was needed. I’m not sure how he will take that remark!!
