The big wind kept away this afternoon and we were able to play our 3 games in this week’s gala in good conditions – a bit cool with a touch of snow on the Tararuas.
After the first two rounds, there was only one team with two wins and it went on to win the gala with a third. Congratulations go to Hazel Rose (s) and the Gardner boys, Peter and Paul. Fred, Coral and Omeka, with 2½ wins took the 2nd prize.
I won’t bother to go into too much detail on how we lost our 3rd game. We held the win, the opposition skip took it from us, and then with her last bowl, our skip sent up a Wrong Bias!! A first for her in a long time. It didn’t really matter as we weren’t in any position to win the Gala prize. It just didn’t compare with all the very good bowls she had played during the afternoon. Brought a big smile to her team though!
