It certainly has been a busy week for the club and its members – Tuesday afternoon, Club Captains and Aggregate Triples, Rotary on Wednesday, a funeral on Thursday morning and the first round of 2x4x2 Pairs in the afternoon, this morning, Waiopehu College class continuing with its bowling lessons and this afternoon, the first round of Horowhenua 5’s is to be played at our club.
The first round of Rotary was held at Shannon and Foxton Beach, two teams from each club playing at the 2 venues.
Our two teams playing at Shannon won both their 2 games and reported that the green was running well at this early part of the season.
The green at Foxton Beach was quite soft and bowls needed a bit of a push to get them to the jack. There our two teams each won only one of their two games but overall, the tally of points for this round was 12, a good start to the season.
It certainly made a difference this morning taking the Waiopehu students in sunshine. We started at 8.45am and, hard to believe, we didn’t need jackets or jerseys.
Their deliveries have show very good progress, especially with getting the green right and today, some thought was given to deciding which hand would be best to play, depending on the state of the head. (That of course doesn’t mean you put the bowl in either the right or left hand, and the state of the head is not referring to the top part of your body!!)
