Eight men from the club took part in the KCBC Men’s singles today and by the end of the day’s play, half of them had qualified for post-section play at Paraparaumu Beach Bowling Club tomorrow. Congratulations and all the best for tomorrow, Murray Griffin, Brian Paquin, Grant Pratt and Ken Hayward.
At our club, the first day of Women’s Pairs was held. I watched some of their play this morning but didn’t get any results at the end of the day’s play to know who had qualified. When I left this morning, Susan Boxall and Dianne Short were going well against Alice Spicer and Margaret MacKay. I must admit that I was surprised to see when I came back at the end of that game, that Alice and Margaret had won. It was a good lesson to all players that you never know just what is ahead and the score card backed this up; after 11 ends the score read 14-4 to Susan and Dianne but by the end of the game the it read 15 -19. The eventual winners got on a roll and scored on all but one of the final ten ends. A great fight back.
Two views from this morning’s play:

eye on the camera.

Eileen Thorn and Gwen McLauchlan admire the toucher.
