Green Superintendent Neville brushing the Cotula green
There was a follow up today to the topdressing done recently on the cotula green, necessary to get rid of the slight ridging showing up on the green. Tony had prepared one of the screeds with brushes across the bottom and this proved to be useful for this job. A few small stones had shown up and Neville hopes that all have been removed so that once the mower gets used, no damage to the blades will occur.
Omeka rolls the green.
Once finished, Omeka got to work with the roller and the hope is that the green is now flat and true.
I understand that a decision will be made as to when the green can be mowed, and who knows, it might even be ready for play on opening day on Saturday.
This morning also saw a team at work putting in the rubber base in the ditch and trimming the back red cloth – thanks Bill Clelland and his team, Vern, Omeka, Rex and Jack. Another good effort.
Also of interest, the Club Handbook for the coming season, prepared by Paul Skilton and Ken Hayward, went to the printer today and it is hoped to be available for distribution on Opening Day, Saturday.
