The annual Mexted Cup was played today at the Paekakariki Club. This event has a 4’s team selected by each club from their workers and it was the opportunity for our last year’s team which won the cup, Ken, Stafford, Murray and Trevor, to repeat their performance. I’m sure they had an enjoyable day but the cup has not returned, being won this year by the Otaki Club.
Our team playing in the Takaro Super Nines Tournament in Palmerston North performed well winning 5 of their six games. It was also an opportunity to play on their carpet and cotula greens and found they played very well.
Our morning games were played against Terrace End and our Pairs, Fred and Omeka, had a very good win. They played on the cotula green as did the Triples combination, Neville, Barry and Barnaby and they also were successful in their game. Playing on the carpet were the Fours, with Ian, Paul, Roy and Keith, and this combination also had a good win.
The afternoon games were played against Central Levin and we each changed greens from our morning games.
Our Pairs went down in their game, but the Triples and Fours again won making it a good return for our efforts.
Another round of this tournament will be played in a fortnight’s time.
