Our new Noticeboard can be seen advertising today’s Gala, showing how useful it is for our club.
And as advertised, a Mixed Gala took place today starting at 12 noon with the weather staying fine.
Three games of eight ends were played and the title of today’s blog tells how Susan (s), Allan and I performed. Our win was against a Shannon trio and ended with a close finish but we did just make the win. Came the 2nd game and we were thoroughly beaten; Roy and Liz played well and skip Robb had magic touch. Our last game was against Joe and his players; they had had two wins and were after a third. It could have gone either way but ended up a draw. As seen in the results, this got them in the prize list.
No doubt other teams played well, but the results were as follows:
1st Rob Cotter, Liz Galloway, Roy James – 3 wins, 16 ends, 44 points
2nd Joe and Lodzia Wnek, Marie Anstis – 2½ wins, 14 ends, 27 points
3rd Alice and Rex Spicer, Don Hutchins – 2 wins, 17 ends, 29 ends
So ended another short gala; some really good bowls were played, an occasional wrong bias noted and a mixture of short and heavy bowls, all adding to play.
Also noted, TJ working on green 2 which is looking really good, and Neville, trimming up some of the shrubs near the pavillion. Typical of how a bowling club operates with people getting jobs done around the place.
