We got underway at 9.00am this morning; it looked quite nice from inside the pavilion, but once outside, we faced a very strong and gusty wind which caused all players problems throughout the day.
Three rounds were drawn to be played, noting that 2 wins were all that were required to reach post-section which will be played tomorrow.
Some were lucky (skilled) to win both their first two games and only had to play a third if their drawn opponent needed one more win.
The draw and results can be seen on the chart below; the photo was taken at the end of play so as well as the original draw, results can be seen as well. Also shown on the chart are the number of handicap points some players received.
As I already noted, the wind was present throughout the day and was a major factor in the winning or losing many of the games.
I certainly found into the wind the most difficult way to play; it always needed a good estimate of the weight needed to reach the jack, but as well, how strong and from what angle it was coming helped. With a tail wind, the line and length could be so easily affected.
Play ended near three o’clock ,just as some rain began to fall, and the board showed that 9 qualified
The draw was made for tomorrow’s play and the first round will be played between Joe Wnek and Jim Bagnall, the rest starting the next round at 9.30am
Let’s hope the weather improves greatly.
