It was Post-section play on Sunday for our Women’s Singles and it certainly wasn’t what one would call a pleasant day.
Overnight rain and finally the cotula green was dry for the afternoon play, but one really hadn’t picked the best day to play.
There were eight finalist and a start was made to play their first round. I dropped into the club to see if anything was happening and found players had just started, all wrapped up and into their games. Noted as well the ‘dedication’ of the markers.
Only one round was played and the results were:
Liz won her game against Bronwyn, Hazel against Barbara, Alice against Dianne and Joan won her match against Margaret Mac.
And that was enough play for the day!
Next weekend it will be the Men’s Singles and it looks as though the post-section will be played not only for the the men but the semi-final and final of the women’s as well.
Let’s hope that summer will definitely get started for next weekend.
