The women’s Champion of Champions games were played yesterday at the Waitarere Beach Club and our player was Diana McGill.
After a bye in the first round and Diana then won her game against the Kapiti player by 11 points. Her following game which was against the Paraparaumu player, gave her another win by a similar margin.
So now it was the final game to win, but once the game got under way, Diana must have wondered just what was happening when her score of 8 points was all that was showing when her opponent from the Waikanae club’s score was sitting on 20; just one more point needed.
It just shows that you never know what is in front of you in any game you play; keep persisting, play well, whatever, and so it must have proved on the day.
This morning I read the Centre’s results and there was the score chart showing Levin 21 – Waikanae 20. Just shows that even when you are trailing, never give up, and this was a classic example.
