One Never Knows

I called into the club mid afternoon to see how play was going in the roll-up.
Don Hutchins, in his early 90’s, was leading on Rink1 and was showing us just how well he can still play. With a walking stick helping him with his balance, Don was having little difficulty drawing his bowls close to the Jack.

I then noted that the opposing team’s skip, Brian Cooper, was about to deliver his bowl, but then also saw that the scoreboard which after only 6 ends, was showing 20 – 0.

The puzzled look gave me the clue that Brian had a problem, but after delivering his bowl, his smile returned, telling  me that he had the shot.

Just a pity though, because his opponent dealt with that situation and it was up to Brian once again.

Just what should he try this time??

No doubt now.
The number 1 now appeared on Brian’s side of the scoreboard.
Was this the same bowler who was playing last Sunday?

Of course. We all know how we have challenges on any day when playing bowls.
Today was a good example.
On all rinks but one, I noted that there was a big gap between the numbers on each board.
A day of Challenges.
