Wynne’s Gala

The club’s patroness, Wynne Bullen, puts on a mini gala each year and once again, members enjoyed their afternoon, taking part, yesterday, in the event. Our thanks go to Wynne, and I hear that she also put on a special afternoon tea. Sorry I wasn’t able to be there.

Omeka, Ian Averis and Doris Thorn won the gala with 3 wins, closely followed in second place by Rex Spicer, Jack Gray and Marion Ball with 3½ wins.

The evening round of Business House took place with hot conditions being and added challenge.

I continue to be impressed with the skill shown by many of the men and women non-bowlers who have learnt to adjust both line and length. It was quite a thrill when after discussing a point with a player, he delivered his next bowl right next to the Jack. He was a quick learner obviously!

You can imagine the pleasure another skip felt when with his last bowl, he drew the shot after being 5 down.

The evenings continue to draw a good number of spectators who can see the fun all are having.

Sportsmanship also is very evident, great to see.
